SYNOPSIS Nosferatu:
“Nosferatu” tells a chilling story of obsession, focusing on a troubled young woman and a terrifying vampire who becomes obsessed with her, bringing horror in his wake.
This new American gothic horror film is directed and written by Robert Eggers, featuring Bill Skarsgård as the legendary vampire. It is a modern version of the 1922 German Expressionist classic, which is a creative take on Bram Stoker’s “Dracula” from 1897, and follows the 1979 film “Nosferatu the Vampyre” as its second remake.
The project began in 2015 after Eggers’ success with “The Witch.” Although it was meant to be his next film, he chose to direct “The Lighthouse” and “The Northman” first, delaying “Nosferatu.” Anya Taylor-Joy was originally cast but had to leave due to scheduling conflicts. In September 2022, Bill Skarsgård and Lily-Rose Depp were cast as the leads, with Nicholas Hoult joining soon after. Filming mainly took place in Prague from February to May 2023.
