Synopsis R.I.P.D.:
R.I.P.D.: Rest in Peace Department was based on the 1999 comic book by Peter M. Lenkov and saw Bridges and Reynolds starring alongside Kevin Bacon, Mary-Louise Parker, Stéphanie Szostak, and Marisa Miller. The film focuses on two police force agents (Bridges and Reynolds) as they work to find and apprehend monstrous spirits called “Deados” who are disguised as ordinary people in an effort to avoid their final judgment in the afterlife. The two agents uncover a sinister plan to disrupt the balance of the universe and end all life and work together to put an end to it.
R.I.P.D. was followed up with a direct-to-video sequel, R.I.P.D. 2: Rise of the Damned in 2022. The movie was a prequel to the 2013 original film and starred Jeffrey Donovan and Rachel Adedeji. The movie will be available on Peacock beginning Jan. 1, 2025.
